How locate and read a system event log.
An event log is a record created by the system as a result of an action such as processing a payment, posting a transaction, closing a module or any other process event. The created log file gets displayed to the user when the process is completed as indicated on the screenshot below;
In cases where the process executed is unsuccessful, the event log normally provides the reason for the failure. Look at the Process Status screen on the above image, the path 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\Microsoft Dynamics SL' shows where the file has been saved. Take note of the log file name and follow the path to locate it, open the file and read it's contents as indicated on the screenshot below;
Take the necessary applicable action based on the file details or open a new case, attach the file and submit it to our support team.
